The Big West Men's & Women's Basketball Tournament takes place in Anaheim this week as teams battle for the tourney title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

UC Santa Barbara and Mario Hollands will host Northern Illinois for the weekend.

Long Beach State will host the Long Beach Invitational this weekend, including the likes of Purdue, Notre Dame, & San Diego.

March Madness is here with the Big West Men's & Women's Basketball Tournament descending upon Anaheim, March 10-13, 2010.  Teams will be competing not just for the tournament title, but also the automatic qualifier to the Big Dance, the NCAA Tournament.  Spring sports continue to roll onward, as baseball and softball begin to wrap up their non-conference schedules while competition heats up in golf, tennis, track & field, and women's water polo.

Select baseball games will be aired this season by Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, UC Santa Barbara, and Pacific this season via the BigWest.TV platform.

Men's Basketball

After one of the wildest regular seasons in recent history, the regular-season champs have been crowned and the seeding for the Big West Tournament is set.  UC Santa Barbara and Pacific shared the regular-season title, with the Gauchos claiming the top seed in the conference tournament by virtue of a tiebreaker.

First round games begin Wednesday with intriguing rematches of two of the best finishes in the league this season.  Cal State Northridge and Cal State Fullerton meet in Wednesday night's first game, with UC Irvine and Cal Poly following.  The Matadors and Titans played three overtimes before Fullerton's Eric Williams scored on a miraculous play to give the Titans the win on Valetine's Day.  The Anteaters and Mustangs will play for the second time in four days after UC Irvine came back from an eight-point deficit with a minute to go last Saturday.  The 'Eaters' overtime win in San Luis Obispo earned them the final spot in this year's tournament.

UC Davis earned their first-ever Big West regular-season title last weekend and hope to capture their first Big West Tournament title a week later.  Hot on their heels are Cal Poly and UC Riverside, who finished second and third in the standings after a week that saw each of the three with an opportunity to take the regular-season crown.

Opening on Wednesday, defending Big West Tourney champs UC Santa Barbara face Pacific in the very first game of the tournament.  That match-up will be followed by UC Irvine taking on Cal State Fullerton.  The Gauchos have won five in a row, while the Tigers are coming off a tough double-ovetime victory over Cal State Northridge to close out the season.  Meanwhile, former high school teammates and current All-Big West First Team selections Mikah Maly Karros (UC Irvine) and Megan Richardson (Cal State Fullerton) take the court as opponents after splitting the regular-season series.

The schedule is full in March, with multiple tournaments on both the men's and women's side. There's still plenty of golf to be played before the Big West Championships in April, but every stroke still counts.
