Big West Celebrates 50/35
The 2018-19 season marks the 50th anniversary for men’s sports in the Big West Conference, and the 35th for women’s.  All season long, the Big West Conference will celebrate the history of all conference sports.  Join us as we pay homage to the student-athletes, coaches, staffs, communities and fans who have helped pave the way.

• The first Player of the Year in Big West Women’s Water Polo history was bestowed on former UC Irvine great Gianna Rossi. In her lone season of Big West competition, Rossi scored 67 goals, scored in 15 consecutive contests and recorded four or more goals on seven different occasions. She is one of six Players of the Year from the UCI program, more than the rest of the schools in the league combined.

• UC Santa Barbara’s Ruth Milne (2010-13) is definitely in the conversation for best goalkeeper in league history. Milne is the career Big West leader in saves (1,187) and minutes played (3,474) in addition to ranking fourth in saves per game (10.93) and eighth in goals against average (7.38). Milne is also the conference single season leader in saves (405) and saves per game (12.00).
