Big West Unveils ESPN3 Fall Schedule
Big West Fall ESPN3 Schedule
The Big West Conference today announced that 12 fall events will be streamed on ESPN3, commencing on Sept. 18 when UC Riverside visits Long Beach State for a women’s volleyball contest in the Walter Pyramid.
Ten women’s volleyball and two women’s soccer contests comprise the slate in the sixth year of the Big West’s collaboration with ESPN, in which more than 60 events are produced annually.
All nine member schools will be represented at least once in the package.
Reigning Big West women’s volleyball champion Cal Poly makes its first appearance on Friday, Sept. 21 at Cal State Fullerton. The Mustangs posted an unblemished 16-0 conference record in 2017. They are ranked No. 22 nationally in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. Cal Poly appears two more times in the package – on Friday, Oct. 19 at CSUN and Saturday, Nov. 10 at UC Irvine.
Hawai‘i has won four of the six Big West women’s volleyball titles since joining the conference in 2012. The Rainbow Wahine seek to reclaim the top spot in 2018, and fans get three opportunities to witness that quest as UH battles UC Irvine (Sept. 23), CSUN (Nov. 2) and longtime rival Long Beach State (Nov. 3) in road showdowns.
UC Davis makes back-to-back road appearances against CSUN (Oct. 5) and LBSU (Oct. 6).
UCI hosts its third and final ESPN3 match on Thursday, Nov. 8 against UC Santa Barbara.
Two women’s soccer regular season contests will be featured on ESPN3. Hawai‘i visits preseason conference favorite UC Irvine on Friday, Sept. 28.
The second matchup takes place on Sunday, Oct. 21 as Cal Poly tangles with reigning Big West Tournament champion Cal State Fullerton at Titan Stadium.
