2018 NFCA All-America List

Sophomore Taylor Rowland became the fifth All-American in Long Beach State's softball history, earning second-team honors as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, Tuesday, in Oklahoma City.

Rowland was a standout in her first season at Long Beach State in 2018 after transferring into the program from Tennessee. A native of Chino Hills, Rowland started in 54 games for Long Beach State, and was third on the team with a .351 batting average while leading the 49ers in home runs with 12 and setting a new single-season record for RBI with 58.

Her RBI totals ranked among the best in the nation, and closed the year leading the Big West in RBI while ranking seventh in batting average and third in slugging percentage at .619 among all players in the Big West.

With voting coming from the nation's coaches, Rowland was tabbed as a second-team selection at the DP/Non-Pitcher position, behind only National Player of the Year Joceyln Alo from Oklahoma among non-pitching designated players.

Rowland becomes the fifth All-American in school history, and just the second since 1992. She joins head coach Kim Sowder nee Kostyk, Linda Lunceford, Mary Letourneau and Brooke Turner in earning All-America honors.

The sophomore previously was named both First Team All-Big West and First Team NCFA All-Region following her tremendous 2018 season.
