Parapunov Honored For Role In Upset Of Top-Ranked Long Beach State
The final set of men's volleyball weekly awards went to representatives from Hawai‘i, UC Irvine and CSUN.

➜ Hawai‘i sophomore Rado Parapunov earned his second straight Big West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week honor as he was instrumental in helping the Rainbow Warriors hand No. 1 Long Beach State its first loss of the season.
➜ The 6-foot-9 opposite compiled 19 kills, a career-high tying seven digs and one block in Saturday’s dramatic five-set victory over the previously undefeated (24-0) Beach. Parapunov hit .256 and punctuated the victory with his 19th kill on match point as the ‘Bows won 15-11 in the fifth.
➜ In the first match between the two rivals on Friday, Parapunov posted his third match with 20 or more kills. He had 20 kills on .300 hitting in a tough five-set defeat.
➜ Parapunov added four digs, four blocks and an ace in a match which UH had four match points in the fifth set. He averaged 3.90 kills per set while leading the team in kills both matches.

SCOTT STADICK, UC IRVINE – DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

➜ UC Irvine sophomore Scott Stadick grabbed his fifth Big West Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week accolade with a pair of strong blocking efforts in a split with UC Santa Barbara.
➜ The 7-foot middle blocker had seven blocks in each matchup with Gauchos, a five-set loss followed by a three-set win. He averaged 1.75 blocks per set.
➜ Stadick had three solo blocks in Thursday’s loss and added two more in Saturday’s win. That gave him 28 for the season, eclipsing his own school record of 25 last year.
➜ Stadick contributed offensively as well with a pair of double-digit kill performances. He had 10 kills on .350 hitting in the first match then ended the week with a team-high 12 kills, hitting .625 (12-2-16).

➜ Maciej Ptaszynski earned his first career Big West Men’s Volleyball Freshman Player of the Week honor as he helped No. 9 CSUN to a pair of wins against UC San Diego.
➜ The 6-foot-6 outside hitter averaged 1.86 kills and 1.86 digs per set while adding three aces and three blocks. He tallied 13 digs while hitting .379 (13-2-29) in the two wins.
➜ Ptaszynski tallied seven kills, nine digs and three aces on Senior Night as the Matadors won in four over the Tritons.
