In a key conference showdown, UC Davis senior Greta Kohlmoos (Livermore, Calif./Granada HS) powered her squad to an upset win over No. 7 UC Irvine to earn Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week honors for the second time in her career.
The center helped the 10th-ranked Aggies improve to 17-8 overall and 2-1 in Big West with a solid all-around performance.
Kohlmoos led UC Davis in scoring with a hat trick, and added three steals in the team’s 9-8 triumph on Saturday.
Her three goals gave her 40 on the year, which ranks second on the team. Kohlmoos scored once in the first quarter give UC Davis a 2-1 lead, and two more times in the second stanza to help the Aggies take a 6-5 halftime lead.
This is the second straight game Kohlmoos has recorded a hat trick. She had three goals the previous weekend in a loss to No. 5 Hawai‘i.
