Three Schools Represented In Men's Volleyball Weekly Awards

CSUN senior Arvis Greene set a national season-high for kills and Hawai‘i sophomore Rado Parapunov helped end a longtime losing streak on the Central Coast as the headliners of this week's men's volleyball awards.

➜ CSUN senior Arvis Greene and Hawai‘i sophomore Rado Parapunov shared Big West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week honors for their performances in conference play.

➜ Greene tallied his fourth weekly award thanks to perhaps the best individual effort in a match this season.  He had a career-high 40 kills in a five-set loss to No. 3 UC Irvine.  The 40 kills was a national season-high, and he accomplished that on a career-high 73 swings.  Greene hit .384 for the match.

➜ Greene added two aces, seven digs and four blocks in CSUN’s upset bid on the road.  He tallied nine kills in the 22-20 fifth set loss.

➜ Parapunov was instrumental in helping Hawai‘i to a 2-0 mark at UC Santa Barbara, the first time in program history the Rainbow Wahine won there twice in the same season.

➜ He averaged 4.43 kills and 1.86 blocks while hitting .404 over seven sets.  He tallied 31 kills, three aces and 13 blocks to help UH snap a six-match road skid in Santa Barbara and produce its first win at Rob Gym since 2010.

➜ Parapunov, a 6-foot-9 opposite, had 20 kills to go along with a career-high 10 blocks (two solo) in the four-set win on Saturday.  The 10 blocks were the most by a UH player since 2015.  He tallied 11 kills on .474 hitting in the series opener.

SCOTT STADICK, UC IRVINE – DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

➜ Sophomore Scott Stadick earned his fourth Big West Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honor as he was a stalwart at the net in UC Irvine’s series sweep over No. 9 CSUN.
 
➜ The 7-foot middle blocker was a key part of UCI’s 27 total blocks against CSUN.  Stadick had three blocks in Friday’s five-set win and returned with eight total blocks on Saturday.

➜ Stadick produced a career-high four solo blocks Saturday to move him into a tie for eighth on UCI’s career list in just 194 sets.  He averaged 1.38 blocks per set.

AUSTIN WILMOT, UC IRVINE – FRESHMAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Outside Hitter • Valley Village, Calif. • Crespi Carmelite HS

➜ Austin Wilmot earned Big West Men’s Volleyball Freshman Player of the Week accolades for the second time for his impressive work at the net for UC Irvine in a key conference sweep of CSUN.

➜ The 6-foot-9 outside hitter averaged 1.75 blocks per set as he tallied a team-best eight total blocks (two solo) on Friday and came back with six more (one solo) on Saturday.

➜ Wilmot helped limit the Matadors to .127 hitting in Saturday’s sweep in Northridge.

➜ He added four kills and two digs for the week.
