Morrissey Caps Strong Week With Two Hat Tricks

Long Beach State junior Tori Morrissey (Marouba, NSW/St. Catherines HS) posted two hat tricks in back-to-back victories to secure the Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week award.

The attacker scored half of the team’s goals in a 6-5 victory over No. 16 UC Santa Barbara to open the Big West schedule.  Morrissey tied the game at 1-1 in the first quarter, and scored again in the second to halve UCSB’s lead at 3-2.  She produced her final goal in the third stanza to give LBSU a 5-4 lead.

Morrissey scored her three goals on six shots as LBSU won its home opener.

The Beach also took on George Washington in a non conference battle and came away with a 15-7 win.  Morrissey got the Beach going early with a goal at the 6:52 mark of the first period for a 1-0 advantage.

She scored two more times to give her a hat trick for the second time on the week.  Morrissey scored six goals on just 11 shots.
