The two winners of Tennis Athlete of the Week honors posted a combined 7-0 singles and doubles record.
Lopez Goes 3-0 in Singles and Doubles
UC Irvine junior Luis Lopez (Chula Vista, Calif./Utah State) earned Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades after winning all three of his matches against San Francisco and Pacific.
Lopez won both of his No. 1 singles contests, taking a straight set victory against San Francisco’s Mert Zincirli, 6-4, 7-5 to help the Anteaters to a 4-3 team win.
He picked up one of UCI’s two points against Pacific, posting a 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 victory against Tadiwa Chinamo. Lopez also won a match at No. 2 doubles with partner Daniel Gealner, taking a 6-3 decision over Paul Giraud and Oliver Poysti of San Francisco.

Lev Ari Helps Gauchos to Pair of Conference Victories
UC Santa Barbara sophomore Amit Lev Ari (Nes Ziona, Israel/Ben Gurion HS) played a key role in two conference victories to secure Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.
Lev Ari posted a 4-0 overall record in singles and doubles as the Gauchos swept UC Davis and UC Riverside by identical 4-0 scores.
She defeated Sara Tsukamoto of UC Davis, 6-1, 6-2, and knocked off UC Riverside’s Lauren Wolfe by the similar score of 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles at the No. 2 position, Lev Ari along with partner Stephanie Yamada won their matches with ease. They dispatched Nikita Pradeep and Tsukamoto of UC Davis, 6-2, and downed Tamila Vaksman and Wolfe, 6-0.
UCSB is now tied for the Big West lead with a 2-0 mark.
