CSUN junior Channon Fluker (Pasadena, Calif./Maranatha HS) recorded the 35th and 36th double-doubles of her career in collecting her first Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award this season.
It is the eighth time in Fluker’s career that she has been honored, moving her up to No. 8 all-time in Big West history for most Player of the Week citations.
Fluker averaged 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds while shooting 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the field, helping the Matadors to a 1-1 split for the week.
In a 64-61 loss to Weber State, Fluker tallied 21 points and 13 rebounds in just 24 minutes of action. Seven of her 13 boards came on the offensive end. She made eight of her 13 floor shots and hit 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.
Fluker notched 20 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots in an 85-72 victory over Fresno State. She connected on 8-of-17 from the field and made all but one of her five free throw attempts. Fluker shot 81.8 (9-of-11) percent at the foul line for the week.
She pulled down six more offensive boards against the Bulldogs, and 36 of her 82 rebounds this season have come on the offensive end.
