'Bows and Beach Are 'Bama Bound for NCAA Championship
NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship Bracket | NCAA Selection Show Long Beach State make their first NCAA Championship appearance, but are familiar with postseason play, having won the 2013 AVCA National Championship and finishing as runners-up in 2012 and 2015. Local rival and No. 3 seed Pepperdine await LBSU in the first round on Friday, May 5 at 10 a.m. PT. The Beach are 26-8 going into the NCAA's, with their only losses coming against the top 5 seeds in the NCAA field.

Two-time Big West Beach Volleyball Tournament champions Hawai'i will be joined by 2017 Big West Tournament top seed Long Beach State for the second annual NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship, as announced by the NCAA Sunday. The Rainbow Wahine and 49ers earned the two at-large bids to the double-elimination tournament, being held May 5-7 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Joining No. 5 seed UH and No. 6 LBSU in the double-elimination tournament are No. 1 and defending champion USC, No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Pepperdine, No. 7 LSU, and No. 8 South Carolina.
Hawai'i enter the postseason 26-5, having won 11 of their last 12 matches, including all three of their matches at the Big West Tournament. They will open against another back-to-back conference champ in 4th-seeded Florida State (27-7), who are two-time CCSA champions. The Rainbow Wahine fell to Florida State on March 17 at the Outrigger Hawai'i Invitational, 3-2. This will be the second-straight NCAA appearance for the 'Bows, who finished 4th in 2016.
The Big West Conference joins the Pac-12 with a pair of selections, while the CCSA has three, and the WCC one.
The event will be televised live by Turner networks, with truTV providing live coverage on Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6, from 12-3 p.m. PT and the championship round airing on TBS on Sunday, May 7, at 11 a.m. PT. Additional live streaming coverage of every court in each match of the tournament will be available on NCAA.com.
