NCAA Women's Beach Volleyball Championship
The University of Hawai’i ran the table at the Big West Conference Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship at Pismo Beach to capture its second straight conference title.
The Rainbow Wahine opened the tournament with a 4-1 victory over No. 3-seeded Cal Poly Friday to advance in the winner’s bracket. Saturday morning UH upset top-seeded Long Beach State, 3-2, in a battle of the undefeated. Later in the day, the Rainbow Wahine found themselves facing the Beach once again, but this time in the championship match where they defeated LBSU, 4-1, to capture the 2017 Big West Conference Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship.
Selection Sunday is slated for April 30 at 4:00 p.m. (PT) on NCAA.com. The NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship will feature the top eight national teams in a three-day double-elimination tournament, scheduled for May 5-7 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
LBSU Advances To Championship Match But Falls To Hawai’i At Big West Tournament
For the second straight season, Long Beach State advanced through the consolation bracket to reach the Big West Tournament finals, but fell to Hawai’i in the championship. Jenelle Hudson and Megan Kruidhof won all three of their matches Saturday, setting a new school record by finishing the day with 28 wins this season.

The Cal Poly beach volleyball team finished third at the Big West Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament, as it beat Cal State Bakersfield in the consolation quarterfinal and fell to Long Beach State in the consolation semifinal in Pismo Beach Calif.
