Top-seeded Long Beach State moves on, along with Hawai'i, Cal Poly, and CSU Bakersfield into Day 2 of the 2017 #BWCBeachVB Tournament.

Top-seeded Long Beach State and No. 2 Hawai'i won their respective matches to advance to day two of the 2017 Big West Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament.  Third-seeded Cal Poly swept No. 4 CSUN in an elimination match while No. 6 CSU Bakersfield upset No. 5 Sacramento State to stave off elimination.   The Beach and Rainbow Wahine face off at 10:00 a.m. and the Mustangs and Matadors battle in an elimination match at 11:00 a.m.

Top Seed Long Beach State Advances To Day Two Of Big West Tournament

Long Beach State advanced to the second day of the Big West Tournament with no issues, defeating Sacramento State 4-1 to continue in the winner’s bracket after receiving a first-round bye as the top seed in the six-team tournament. Sacramento State (8-10) was the surprising winner of the day’s first match, upsetting CSUN to advance to face the Beach in the first match of the tournament for the 49ers. Long Beach State (25-6) was able to clinch the match quickly, however, winning four out of five matches in straight sets.


SandBows Defeat Cal Poly In Big West Tourney Opener

The University of Hawai'i  began defense of its 2016 Big West title with a 4-1 victory over Cal Poly on the opening day of the Big West Beach Volleyball Tournament Friday afternoon at Pismo Beach.  With the win, UH (24-5) advanced to Saturday's winners bracket where they will face nemesis and top-seed Long Beach State at 10 a.m. PT/7 a.m. HT.


Cal Poly Beach Volleyball Advances to Consolation Quarterfinal

The third seeded Cal Poly beach volleyball team went 2-1 at the Big West Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament in Pismo Beach, Calif., advancing it to the consolation quarterfinal on Saturday. 


3-2 Thriller Keeps CSUB Alive At Big West Tourney

After dropping a 5-0 decision to Cal Poly, CSU Bakersfield remained alive at the Big West Beach Volleyball Tournament by defeating Sacramento State 3-2 in an elimination match.  CSUB entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed and lost to the third seed, Cal Poly (14-21), 5-0 in morning play. Emily Sonny and Hannah Hubbard defeated Carol Grasso and Sara Little 21-14, 21-13 at No. 1. Adlee Van Winden and Taylor Nelson swept Jocelyn Rodriguez and Madi Busler 21-16, 21-4 in the No. 2 match.


Hornet Beach Volleyball Beats CSUN, But Is Eventually Eliminated From The Big West Tournament

Sacramento State began the double elimination Big West Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament with a 3-2 victory over CSUN, but fell later in the day to both fifth-ranked Long Beach State (4-1) and CSU Bakersfield (3-2). All three matches took place over a six-hour span at the six-team tournament at the Pismo Beach Sand Courts.


Matadors Ousted from Big West Beach Volleyball Tournament

The CSUN beach volleyball team suffered a pair of close losses Friday and were eliminated from the 2017 Big West Tournament at Pismo Beach.  The Matadors, seeded fourth, opened the tournament with a tight 3-2 loss to fifth-seed Sacramento State before falling 5-0 to third-seed Cal Poly in an elimination match.
