ANTEATERS ATOP LEAGUE STANDINGS

With a 15-5 win over the Matadors last weekend, UC Irvine moves to 2-0 in league ahead of all competition. The Anteaters next face the Gauchos at Santa Barbara, Saturday. The ’Eaters have won league five times since the Big West began sponsoring the sport in 2009 and have been named the conference tournament champion just as many times (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015). UCI is the only team to ever finish a season undefeated and it has accomplished the feat three times: 2011, 2012, 2015. Last season the ‘Eaters compiled a 3-2 campaign in conference play and look to claim another regular season title this season with three league foes remaining.

HOST LOOKING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
UC Davis has a big test this weekend with Hawai‘i coming to the mainland, Saturday. The two-time champs travel to Davis  and the Aggies look to bounce back from a 12-9 loss to Long Beach State a week prior. Coach Jamey Wright says the number one point of focus is protecting the ball.

#BWCWords
UCD Coach Jamey Wright on Hawai‘i matchup: “We have to come out and attack, attack, attack. We want to force them to play defense and see if we can break them down. If you be too conservative, you play into their hands.”
