ANTEATERS MAKE IT SIX
With a 9-7 win over No. 12 San Diego State, No. 5 UC Irvine has won six straight for the longest active win-streak in league. The Anteaters have not dropped a contest since Feb. 26. The six consecutive victories are the best for UCI since the 2015 season when the ’Eaters recorded eight Ws in a row from March 7-April 11. UCI will take the week off for finals and will return to action on April 1.
DAVIS OPENS LEAGUE PLAY AT 2-0
No. 10 UC Davis defeated No. 21 CSUN 13-10, Saturday, to open league with a perfect 2-0 mark, its best start in conference action since 2009 when the Ags opened Big West play with wins over UC Santa Barbara and CSUN. UCD boasts its perfect mark thanks to hat tricks from junior Paige Virgil and sophomore McKenna Hauss for a come from behind win over the Matadors. Davis will break for finals and return to the pool on April 1.
CONFERENCE TOURNEY COUNTDOWN
In just five short weeks, the Big West will gather in Davis, Calif. for the conference tournament at which the winner will claim the league’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Action will take place at Schaal Aquatics Center Saturday. UCSB made history last year, claiming its first-ever BWT title.
