Ben Donovan helped Cal Poly extend its win streak to five straight, while Maeva Razakasoa became Long Beach State's all-time career singles win leader as the two captured Big West Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.
Donovan Goes 7-1 in Singles and Doubles
Cal Poly senior Ben Donovan (Germantown, Tenn./Advantage Tennis Academy) played a large role in his team going 4-0 as he secured Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.
Donovan posted a 3-1 record at No. 2 singles and combined with Corey Pang to go 4-0 at No. 1 doubles as the Mustangs defeated Utah State, Middle Tennessee, Arizona and Denver.
He won his three singles matches in straight sets, including a 7-6 (6), 6-0 victory over Arizona’s Shoti Meparidze. He also defeated Utah State’s Jack Swindells, 6-3, 6-4, in a match the Mustangs eked out in a 4-3 final.
Donovan and Pang won a majority of their doubles matchups with ease.

Razakasoa Sets Long Beach State Singles Wins Record
Long Beach State senior Maeva Razakasoa (Cranves-Sales, France) earned her 100th career singles victory while going a combined 5-0 in singles and doubles, garnering Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades.
She won No. 100 in a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Georgetown’s Victoire Saperstein as the 49ers toppled the Hoyas, 6-1. She became the new all-time wins leader at LBSU in the process. In a Big West showdown with Cal State Fullerton, a 4-3 victory, Razakasoa outdueled Titan counterpart Alexis Valenzuela, 6-4, 6-1. She has won nine of her last 10 singles contests.
