UC Irvine junior Luca Marquard and Cal State Fullerton sophomore Sarah Nuno went a combined 4-0 in singles to earn this week's tennis awards.
Marquard Wins Two Matches In Straight Sets
UC Irvine junior Luca Marquard (Bensheim, Germany/Pepperdine) notched a pair of singles victories to earn Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.
Both wins came at No. 2 singles in straight sets. He downed Grand Canyon’s Adrian Legarreta, 6-2, 6-0, and knocked off UC San Diego’s Alexandre Miaule, 6-2, 6-4.
The latter win helped the Anteaters defeat the Tritons by a 4-0 score as they split a doubleheader.

Nuno Helps Fullerton Maintain Program's Record Start
Helping continue the program’s best start in school history, Cal State Fullerton sophomore Sarah Nuno (Sylmar, Calif./Granada Hills Charter HS) captured Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades.
The Titans improved to 6-0 with a pair of road victories against San Francisco (5-1) and Santa Clara (4-0), with Nuno winning twice at No. 4 singles and once at No. 2 doubles with partner Karla Portalatin.
Nuno overcame a first set loss to Joselyn Treyes Albar, but rebounded to win the match against her Dons counterpart, prevailing 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-3.
Against Santa Clara, she blanked Zeina El Tawil, 6-0, 6-0. She helped the Titans capture the doubles point with Portalatin, as the duo took care of El Tawil and Nabila Farah, 6-2. Nuno is 4-1 on the season in both singles and doubles.
