MAKING HISTORY IN 2016
UC Santa Barbara made program history in the 2016 Big West Tournament, claiming its first-ever Big West Tournament crown at the eighth tournament since the league’s inaugural season in 2009.  The Gauchos went 3-0, first taking down #6 CSUN 8-4 and #2 UC Irvine in a thrilling 7-6 sudden victory to clinch the semifinal win.  UCSB then defeated defending tournament champion, #4 Hawai‘i, in a domineering 11-5 finish.  With the win, the Gauchos earned their first trip to the NCAA Tournament.  Long Beach State made history of its own after wrapping up the regular season with a 4-1 mark in league to earn its first-ever Big West women’s water polo regular season title.
