Big West Conference Helps Fill 28 Busses For Spark of Love's Stuff-A-Bus
On Friday, Dec. 16, Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, UC Irvine and the Big West Conference office participated in Spark of Love’s 24th annual Stuff-A-Bus.
Spark of Love’s Stuff-A-Bus campaign collects new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment for under-served children and teens in Log Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura and Riverside counties. Over the past 20 years, Spark of Love has collected more than nine million toys during the holiday season.
The Big West Conference donated Wilson basketballs and volleyballs while the Titans, 49ers and Anteaters brought toys for children of all ages.
UC Irvine women's basketball senior, Mckenzie Piper, said, "It's always good to give back. I appreciate the opporunity to stuff the bus for the kids of Orange County. I hope it makes a lof of kids smile on Christmas morning."
In addition to basketballs and volleyballs, the Big West Conference distributed Big West Tournament vouchers to the first attendees who donated to the toy drive.
Organized by the city and fire departments in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties and KABC-TV, the Big West helped fill a total of 28 busses at Anaheim’s event at Honda Center, last week. The toys and equipment collected during the campaign will be distributed to under-served children and teens in the aforementioned counties.
