AROUND THE BIG WEST
LONG BEACH STATE PULLS RANK
Long Beach State earned a No. 18 ranking in the national polls (Soccer America) after taking down No. 11 USC in a 1-0 victory Friday and defeating San Diego State 3-0, Monday. The 49ers have only allowed a single goal in its four matches this season while senior goalkeeper Ashton McKeown has held Farifield, No. 11 USC and San Diego State scoreless.

McKEOWN MAKES HER MARK
With three shutouts, senior goalkeeper, Ashton McKeown, currently ties for the most in the NCAA. The three blank sheets bring her career total to 20 shutouts and the 2014 Big West Goalkeeper of the Year needs to hold just two more opponents scoreless to break into the conference record book in the category.
NO ONE’S WALKING ON THE BEACH
With a 3-0-1 overall mark, Long Beach State has some of the best marks across the NCAA: goals against average (0.237 - 15th), save percentage (0.938 - 12th), shutout percentage (0.750, 13th), and total assists (10 - 17th).
After its second perfect weekend in as much time, UC Irvine is 4-0 for the first time to open a season since 2011. The 4-0 start is just the fourth in Anteater history and the ’Eaters look for their fifth consecutive win since 2011. UCI is the only squad to open the season with a 4-0 mark in 2016.
Cal State Fullerton went 6-0 in 2015 before dropping a match for the most recent unbeaten mark to start a campaign. UCI will look to best the Titan run with two games on deck this weekend on the road at Nevada Thursday, before returning home to host Pittsburgh, Sunday.
After two weeks of play, four Big West programs remain unbeaten. UC Irvine leads the pack with the most wins at four while UC Santa Barbara, Long Beach State and Hawai‘i total three. The Big West currently owns a .721 win percentage.
Last weekend the Big West played a total of nine matches decided in overtime for a 7-1-1 mark. Amanda Ball of UC Santa Barbara and Kiana Palacios and Kelsey Texeira of UC Irvine all have two game-winners a piece. The two GWs are third-best in DI soccer across the country.

SMITH PUTTING IN TIME
Sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Smith has logged 469:11 minutes between the posts for the most goalie minutes played in the NCAA. The sophomore has helped the Aggies to a 2-2-0 mark overall.
HAWAI’I FARES WELL IN OT
For the third time in four games, Hawai‘i played more than the allotted 90 minutes and clinched an overtime win thanks to Raisa Strom-Okimoto delivering the game winner in the 96th minute. The Rainbow Wahine extend its unbeaten streak to four and its winning-streak to three. UH has also mounted a 10-match unbeaten streak in overtime matches, including its two Ws and a tie in 2016.
