LONG BEACH STATE IS PERFECT
Long Beach State is perfect through its first three games in league for the first time as a member of the Big West Conference. The Beach is the only program to boast a perfect mark in conference action and looks to make even more history moving forward with what would be its first-ever Big West regular season title in the sport’s eight-year existence within the league. UC Irvine is the only team to have finished the regular season with a perfect mark in Big West play (2011, 2012, 2014) as the 49ers look to do the same. Two league matches remain for the 49ers with a showdown at UC Irvine Thursday, and a final home match Saturday versus UC Santa Barbara. The Beach has also won four games in a row, three games shy of its season-best seven-match win-streak earlier this year.
UC Davis picked up a key confence win with a 6-4 victory over reigning regular season champion, UC Irvine. The Aggies upset No. 5 Irvine and recorded their first league win over the Anteaters in program history. With the win, Davis moved up two spots in the national poll to No. 10.
TOP TEN TAKE OVER
With the release of the weekly national poll, the Big West now has four teams to crack the top 10 (UC Santa Barbara - 7, UC Irvine - 8, Hawai‘i - 9, UC Davis - 10). Long Beach sits at No. 13 while CSUN received a No. 25 ranking. All six programs in league are ranked.
REGULAR SEASON COMES TO CLOSE
Just three games remain in the regular season before the six programs battle it out to #RaiseTheCup from April 29 to May 1 in Santa Barbara at Campus Pool.
