Brett Bacharach and Lani-Rae Green of UC Davis won a combined 11 singles and doubles matches without a defeat to earn this week's Athlete of the Week recognition.
Bacharach Helps Aggies To Sweep Of Homestand
Helping the Aggies sweep a four-match homestand, UC Davis senior Brett Bacharach (Newcastle, Calif./Del Oro HS) posted a 7-0 record in singles and doubles for Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades.
Bacharach won all three singles matches at No. 2 and No. 3, including a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Hawaii’s Marcel Chan that gave the Aggies a 6-1 win over their Big West foe. Bacharach also influenced the team’s 6-1 win over No. 72 San Francisco, winning 6-4, 6-3 over Thomas Takemoto and teaming with Eli Whittle to earn a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
With Whittle, the duo dropped just a combined four games over the four matches.

Green Unbeaten On San Diego Roadtrip
Sophomore Lani-Rae Green (Kekaha, Hawai‘i/Waimea HS) posted a perfect 4-0 record in singles and doubles for UC Davis, claiming Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.
Green helped the Aggies to a split of its San Diego roadtrip. In a 4-3 loss to San Diego State, Green was responsible for two of her team’s points. She won a tight three-set battle with SDSU’s Kennedy Davis, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, to tie the match at three points apiece. Green partnered with Kristy Jorgensen at No. 1 doubles to earn a, 6-2, win over the Aztec pairing of Isabelle Hoorn and Taylor Lederman as well.
She held at No. 2 singles again in a, 7-5, 6-2, victory over UC San Diego’s Alexandra Weil as the Aggies earned a 7-2 win. Green then won at No. 2 doubles with new partner Jessie Lee.
