Long Beach State senior Nick Faust (Baltimore, Md./Maryland) averaged over 20 points per game and shot better than 50 percent from the field in a busy four-game stretch, capturing Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades.
The 6-6 guard posted three 20-point games while shooting 51.7 percent (30-for-58) overall, including a torrid 54.8 percent (17-for-31) from three-point range in a 2-2 week for the Beach.
Faust led the Beach in points (87), points per game (21.8), threes made (17) and steals (9) to help LBSU split the four games in a six-day period.
Faust started the week with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting against San Diego State, hitting 4-of-7 from distance. He added seven rebounds and three steals against the Aztecs.
In an 83-77 road victory against Colorado State, Faust erupted for 27 points, five rebounds, four assists and five steals. He knocked down five three-pointers en route to an 8-for-14 shooting performance from the field.
Faust chipped in 16 points in a 67-53 home win against New Mexico State, draining a trio of treys. He nearly led a road upset of UCLA, pouring in a team-high 24 points with seven rebounds in a narrow 83-76 loss.
