UC Davis senior Alyson Doherty (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro HS) averaged 17.7 points and 8.0 rebounds in three victories to earn Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The 6-3 forward also shot just under 60 percent from the field for the week, hitting on 19 of 32 field goal attempts. She sparkled at the free throw line with 15 makes in 18 attempts, 83.3%.
Doherty notched her third double-double of the year with a season-high 22 points and 10 rebounds in an 82-70 victory at Portland State, making eight of 12 floor shots. She added a pair of steals, a blocked shot and an assist against the Vikings.
In a 66-40 rout of Air Force, Doherty narrowly missed a double-double as she posted 18 points and nine rebounds on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and 8-of-9 at the line.
Doherty helped the Aggies close out their 3-0 week, and extend the team’s winning streak to four straight, with a 13-point, five-rebound effort at Portland in a 72-47 triumph on Sunday. She collected a pair of steals and blocked shots in 25 minutes of action, giving her at least one swat in every game this season.
It was an efficient week for Doherty, who played no more than 25 minutes in any of the three wins, and averaged 23.3 minutes per game.
