49ers With The Upset
Long Beach State opened the final day of the Arizona State invitational with an upset win over No. 6 Arizona State in a 5-3 finish to make it a perfect 3-0 49er tournament record heading into the final match of the day. Hartwick snuck past LBSU and clinched a narrow 6-7 victory. Junior Alexis Butler recorded a total of 28 saves on the final day of competition, 14 in each contest.
Beach Tackles Big West Play
Long Beach State opens its conference portion of the 2015 season, Saturday. The Beach heads to CSUN to face the Matadors at noon who are currently undefeated in league action and have recorded Ws in its last two games. The 49ers are coming off of their loss to Hartwick, but have won three of its last four contests.
Hawai‘i Hosts Bruins and Aztecs
Hawai‘i hosts another pair of matches as it faces UCLA and San Diego State. The Bruins lead the all-time series at 46-3 and own a 2-0 clean slate over the Rainbow Wahine this season. UH has dropped its previous two contests versus the Aztecs, however has a 21-10 advantage in the all-time record. The ’Bows wrap up their seven-game home-stretch on April 4 as they host UC Santa Barbara in their first league match after a three-week conference-hiatus.
