UC Davis senior Corey Hawkins (Goodyear, Ariz./Arizona State) averaged 25.5 points in a pair of wins to help his school clinch its first-ever regular season title, earning him Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades.

Hawkins, a 6-3 guard, scored 21 points in Thursday’s 61-59 victory against UC Riverside.  He had two of those points with three seconds remaining, that turned a one-point lead to three and helped the Aggies stave off the Highlanders.  He added six rebounds and three steals in the win.

He notched 30 points, his second 30-point effort of the year, to help lead UC Davis to an 80-61 victory over UC Irvine in the final game of the regular season to secure a 14-0 undefeated season at home on Hamilton Court.

Hawkins hit 9 of 16 shots from the floor and drained all 11 free throw attempts for a season-high.  The effort gave him his 38th career 20-point game, which tied a school record.

For the week, Hawkins averaged 25.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in helping UC Davis clinch the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and a school record (Division I era) 24 wins – the most for the program overall since the 1999-2000 season.
