Fifth Is A First
UC Irvine continues to get attention as the Anteaters finished in fifth place at the prestigious UC Irvine Invitational, its hichest-ever finish in program hostory. UCI went 3-2 over the weekend as the ’Eaters averaged 6.5 goals a match. Cambria Shockley recorded six goals of her own to lead the team while she picked up two assists in the process. Irvine held its opponents scoreless in seven of 16 periods and senior goalie Jillian Yocum stopped 38 shots over the two days and notched 13 saves in both the Michigan and CSUN outings.
Hawai‘i Hot In Irvine
Hawai‘i took a sixth place finish at the UC Irvine Invitational going 2-2 over the weekend. The Rainbow Wahine notched 21 goals in their four games and look ahead to a match featuring conference foe, CSUN, in the Big West league opener on the island.
