Averaging 23.5 points in a pair of victories, UC Riverside junior Brittany Crain (Moreno Valley, Calif./Valley View HS) collected her fourth Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award this season.

Crain’s offense keyed the two home court triumphs against Cal State Fullerton (77-69) and Long Beach State (80-74).  In addition to her scoring totals, Crain averaged 4.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals in helping the Highlanders improve to 6-3 in conference action.

The 5-8 guard notched 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting to go along with a career-high nine assists against the Titans.  She added three rebounds and foul steals.

Against the 49ers, Crain made a living at the free throw line, hitting on 13 of her 17 free throw attempts en route to a game-high 27 points.  She hit 6-of-12 floor shots and chipped in five rebounds and a pair of assists.

Crain, the nation’s fourth-leading scorer with 24.0 points per game, has scored 20 or more points in 15 games this season.  She also owns a 32-game streak of scoring double-digit points, including nine games from last season.

Crain also recently was listed as one of 30 candidates for the 2015 Nancy Lieberman Award.

Others nominated: Taryn Garza (Cal Poly); Kathleen Iwuoha (Cal State Fullerton); Ashlee Guay (CSUN); Lauren Spargo (Long Beach State); Sydnee Fipps (UC Davis); Shawna-Lei Kuehu (Hawai‘i)
