Destiny King (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly HS) captured Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors as the junior helped Hawai‘i post a crucial sweep over big guns Long Beach State and CSUN.

The 5-10 guard/forward averaged 13.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists to help the Rainbow Wahine extend their winning streak to five straight games, the longest under head coach Laura Beeman.

King also starred at the free throw line, hitting 15-of-16 attempts for a 93.8% success rate.  She added a pair of steals to fill out the stat sheet.

In the 72-64 win over the 49ers, King scored 12 points, including four free throws with less than 40 seconds left that helped seal the win over the league-leaders.  She chipped in six rebounds, two assists and a steal.

King notched a game-high 15 points with three assists and no turnovers in 31 minutes of action in Saturday’s 64-49 defeat of the Matadors.  She knocked down a career-high nine free throws (in nine attempts) and grabbed seven rebounds.

UH’s five-game winning streak is the program’s longest since winning eight straight in the 2006-07 season.  UH also has won 10 straight Big West games at home dating back to last season.
