CSUN senior Ashlee Guay (San Diego, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace) averaged 20.0 points in two road victories, including against the conference’s first place squad, and notched her second Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor this season.

The 5-7 guard also averaged five rebounds and five assists to help the Matadors down UC Irvine (72-63) and Long Beach State (67-52), snapping a 15-game 49er winning streak in the process.

Guay made 8-of-13 floor shots en route to a game-high 22 points in the win over the Anteaters.  She added four rebounds, six assists and two steals.

In helping engineer the victory at Long Beach State, Guay again led all scorers with 18 points and knocked down all six of her free throw attempts.  She chipped in with six rebounds, four assists and a steal as the Matadors toppled the 49ers for the fourth straight time in the series and knocked off the conference’s previously unbeaten first place team.

In the UCI win, Guay became just the third player in program history to eclipse 1,500 career points.  Her three steals for the week upped her career total to 268, the eighth-most in Big West history.  Guay is CSUN’s all-time leader in both steals and assists.

Others nominated: Kristen Ale (Cal Poly); Chante Miles (Cal State Fullerton); Brittany Crain (UC Riverside); Kristine Brance (UC Santa Barbara); Destiny King (Hawai‘i)
