Cal State Fullerton senior Chante Miles (Compton, Calif./Carson HS) captured Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades after notching her first double-double and fifth 20-point game of the season to help her team post a 2-0 record.

The 5-3 guard led the Titans to a 20-point win over UMKC on New Year’s Eve with 18 points and a career-high 12 assists.  Miles hit three treys en route to a 7-for-16 shooting effort as the Titans rolled to a 72-52 victory.

Miles also spearheaded a 66-59 road triumph against Seattle thanks to a 28-point performance.  She drained 10-of-22 from the field, including four three-pointers, and chipped in four rebounds, six assists, three steals and a blocked shot.  Miles kept the Titans afloat, scoring 12 of her 28 points in the first half to offset a cold shooting effort by the rest of team, then kept the pressure on in the second period to help CSF erase a 15-point halftime deficit.

For the week, Miles averaged 23.0 points, 9.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds as CSF improved to 6-7 on the season.

Others nominated: Beth Balbierz (Cal Poly); Cinnamon Lister (CSUN); Anna Kim (Long Beach State); Methlyn Onogomuho (UC Irvine); Michelle Curry (UC Riverside); Shawna-Lei Kuehu (Hawai‘i)
