UC Santa Barbara senior Alan Williams (Phoenix, Ariz./North HS) averaged a double-double to claim his third Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award this season, and extended his conference career record to 11 citations.

The 6-8 center averaged 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds to help the Gauchos split a pair of non-conference games.

In a 76-64 loss at Oregon State, Williams posted 16 points and 12 rebounds while connecting on 7-of-11 from the field.

Williams played a key role in UCSB’s 64-57 win over Vermont as he notched 10 of his 19 points in the final five minutes, helping his team overcame a six-point deficit to defeat the Catamounts.  He made 7-of-13 floor shots and sank all but one of his six free throw attempts.

He became the seventh player in school history to move past 1,500 career points and he’s now 30 rebounds shy of 1,000.  He is on the cusp of becoming the first player in UCSB history – and just the fifth in Big West annals – to compile 1,000 career caroms.

Williams also amassed his eighth and ninth double-doubles of the season.

Others nominated: Michael Bolden (Cal Poly); Alex Harris (Cal State Fullerton); Stephen Maxwell (CSUN); Branford Jones (Long Beach State); J.T. Adenrele (UC Davis); Will Davis II (UC Irvine); Jaylen Bland (UC Riverside); Mike Thomas (Hawai‘i)
