CSUN senior Ashlee Guay (San Diego, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace) garnered Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades as he helped her team to a pair of road wins.
The 5-7 guard averaged 20.5 points and 4.5 assists as CSUN defeated Northern Arizona (77-71) and San Diego State (65-54) to improve to 9-2 on the season, which represents the program’s best start ever through 11 games in its Division I history.
Guay tied a season high with 24 points against the Lumberjacks as she shot 3-for-5 from three-point territory and canned all seven of her free throw attempts. She chipped in a season-high five steals and five assists to help CSUN’s cause.
In winning at SDSU for the first time as a road team in the series, Guay recorded 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in an all-around effort.
The seven steals for the week gave Guay 257 for her career, and she needs just two more to move into 10th place in the Big West career record book.
