CSUN ELEVATED IN OT HEROICS
It was Cal State Northridge that would emerge victorious in Friday’s conference showdown between the Matadors and Hawai‘i in what appeared to be the Rainbow Wahine’s match as UH led 8-5 with 7:21 to play in the fourth.  With just over three minutes to play, Northridge’s Celena Photopulos tightened the gap at 8-6 before Kelcie Ferreira brought CSUN within one at 1:12 on the clock.  As heroics go, Melissa Doll fired a shot with just two seconds remaining in regulation to take her squad into overtime.  After a scoreless first OT, Ferreira clinched a CSUN win for a 9-8 Matador decision to remain unbeaten in league play.

NOTEWORTHY AT NORTHRIDGE

Cal State Northridge senior Lindsay Duncan picked up three assists in the Hawai‘i match for a total of 185 career assists.  With her perfomance Friday, Duncan claimed the No. 1 spot in the Matador record book for career assists, passing the record set in 2006 by Lynzy Klein who totaled 184 assists in her time in red and black.

CONFERENCE CONTINUES
Conference play continues this week as the Big West’s two unbeaten teams in league, in UC Irvine and Cal State Northridge, face off on Sunday on Matador territory.  The teams’ two victories have both been earned against Hawai‘i and UC Davis.  Irvine will first be tested by UC Santa Barbara as Northridge takes on Long Beach Saturday.
