The Gold Rush, hosted by Long Beach State, is one of only two women’s events on the docket this month.  This year’s event runs April 7-8 at the Yorba Linda Country Club, a par-72, 6,077-yard course.  Joining host Long Beach State are Big West foes Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge UC Irvine and UC Riverside.  Non-Big West schools competing in the two-day event are Boston College, Gonzaga, Idaho, Northern Arizona and San Francisco.

UC Davis Set To Host El Macero Classic:
The UC Davis men are spending Easter weekend hosting the El Macero Classic, previously called the Winchester Classic, at the El Macero Country Club April 18-20.  Teams scheduled to compete in the tournament are Boise State, Cal Poly, Colorado State, Cal State Fullerton, Sacramento State, Grand Canyon, Marquette, Seattle University, Idaho, Nevada and Utah Valley.

Epstein, Gauchos Win Big:
Guided Jordan Epstein, who carded a three-round score of 214 to claim medalist honors, guided the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men’s team to a team title at the Fresno State Clasisc.  UC Santa Barbara entered the final round tied for second with the University of San Francisco at 18-over par, two shots back of Nevada. The Gauchos recorded a final round score of 287, five shots better than the Wolf Pack, to post the three-shot win.

Lee Wins Home Event:
Sophomore Kevin Lee fired a 63 in the final round of the 18th Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic to card a three-round score of 202 and capture individual medalist honors in LBSU’s home event.  He edged Cal State Northridge’s Kyler Sauer by one stroke.  En route to Lee’s first career tournament win he tied a course record and marked a career-low for the native from La Palma with his final-round 63.

Anguiana, Edberg Claim Golfer Of The Month Honors:
Cal State Fullerton senior Mark Anguiano parlayed five sub-60 rounds and a pair of third place finishes into Big West Men’s Golfer of the Month honors for March, while Cal State Fullerton freshman Martina Edberg claimed Big West Women’s Golfer of the Month honors as she became the first Titan women’s golfer to earn medalist honors in a multi-day event since the program was reinstated for the 2009-10 season.

Anguiano fired team-best back-to-back rounds of 66 to begin the Long Beach State-hosted Del Walker Intercollegiate at the Virginia Country Club.  He finished with a final round 73 and carded a 54-hole total of 5-under 205, good for third place among the field of 64 golfers.

At the Desert Shootout, Anguiano shot under-70 in all three rounds to tally a final score of 12-under 204 and a third place tie.  On the 7,015 yard Palm Valley Country Club course, Anguiano posted his third 66 of the month in the tournament’s second round, and sandwiched a pair of 69’s around that.
Edberg accomplished the feat at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite thanks to three consecutive rounds of 71.  Her 54-hole total of 3-under 213 tied her with Oregon’s Cathleen Santoso and New Mexico’s Sammi Stevens for the individual title.

Edberg also paced the Titans at The Farms Invitational, an event that featured six teams ranked in the Golfstat top-25 and 16 in the top-100.  Edberg shot a 16-over 232 (78-77-77) to tie for 49th place in the field of 92 golfers.
