PERFECT IN LEAGUE
Cal State Northridge, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara jumped out to a perfect 1-0 record in conference play after the first full weekend of league action got under way. The Matadors defeated the Aggies in a 10-7 decision, paced by junior Marisa Young who scored a team-high four goals to lead her squad to victory.  UC Irvine extended its now six-game winning-streak as the Anteaters dealt Hawai‘i a 9-5 loss away from the mainland.  Finishing out the conference’s Ws was UC Santa Barbara who clinched a 7-4 win over UC Davis at Schaal Aquatics Center.

THIRTY AND THRIVING
Four Anteaters currently have 30 or more goals scored in the 2014 season including Danielle Warde (41), McKenna Mitchell (40), Jessy Cardey (37) and Hannah Croghan (32).  UC Irvine is averaging 11.5 goals per match and is allowing just 5.89 thanks to the Eater defense led by junior goalkeeper Jillian Yocum.

BOWS BESTED BY BRUINS

In a rematch of last year’s NCAA Tournament third-place game, won by UCLA, the No. 2 Bruins barely got the best of the Rainbow Wahine Sunday, as Hawai‘i lost a narrow 5-4 match.  With an upcoming conference showdown with Cal State Northridge, the Bows are looking to snap their three-game losing streak.  Hawai‘i will also take on UC Santa Barbara and La Verne as it travels to the mainland.
