Okamoto’s Performance Clinches Win over USF
Junior Chas Okamoto (Kapa`a, Kaua`i/ Kapa`a High School) dominated in singles and doubles en route to clinching Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week.
Versus Oklahoma State, Okamoto clinched the lone Hawai‘i point in two singles and won in straight sets with a tiebreaker before completing the 7-6 (2), 6-2 sweep.
Then, going head-to-head with San Francisco, Okamoto and teammate Chris Meyer clinched the doubles point for the Rainbow Warriors (2-8) on the three court.
The junior is now 5-5 overall with a two-match win-streak while the Bows are 3-8 and 1-0 in the conference.

Thompson Helps Long Beach to Three Victories
First year Hayley Thompson (Irvine, Calif./Crean Lutheran High School) is named Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week after going 6-0 last week as Long Beach State recorded wins in all three matches.
While helping the 49ers clinch three victories in a row, the freshman won all of her singles matches in straight sets and in her doubles match against No. 37 Harvard, while aiding her squad in securing the first point of the match to best the Ivy Leaguer.
Thompson and the Beach recorded Ws over Wyoming and Dartmouth last week in addition to the victory against the ranked Crimson.
