altUC Santa Barbara freshman Teague Hamilton and UC Irvine sophomore Sarah Gong were unblemished in singles and doubles play, garnering Big West Men's and Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades.

Hamilton Wins Twice In Singles And Doubles


UC Santa Barbara freshman Teague Hamilton notched Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors as he went undefeated in singles and doubles.

Hamilton remained undefeated in singles at home after winning a pair of matches at the No. 5 position.  He knocked off Nevada’s Ryan Andrade, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, handing his Wolf Pack counterpart his first loss of the season.  Hamilton then dispatched Pacific foe Alex Hamilton, 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles play, Hamilton paired with Andrew Riminton to capture two matches at No. 3.  The duo won 8-3 against Nevada, and downed Alex Hamilton and Erik Cederall of Pacific by an 8-6 score, helping UCSB clinch the doubles point in an eventual 6-1 victory.

Gong Helps UC Irvine To Conference Victory

Sarah Gong helped UC Irvine remain undefeated in conference play as she claimed Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week.

UC Irvine improved to 3-0 in Big West play with a 4-0 triumph against Cal Poly.  Gong teamed with Brooke Schweyer to deliver an 8-4 victory against the Mustang tandem of Mika Padmanabhan and Kathryn Webb at No. 2. 

She then had a solid display at No. 2 singles, in which she toppled Emily Gibbens, 6-0, 6-3.  UCI evened its record at 5-5 on the season.
