Lynch, Lee Collect Weekly Baseball Honors

altUC Davis junior Nick Lynch’s offensive explosion and Cal Poly freshman Slater Lee’s masterful effort against No. 12 UCLA led them to Big West Baseball Field Player and Pitcher of the Week accolades, respectively.

Lynch Blasts Four Home Runs At Tournament

Junior Nick Lynch (Grass Valley, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) powered UC Davis to a 3-1 record at the Gael Invitational to capture Big West Baseball Field Player of the Week honors.

The third baseman slugged four home runs, hit .474 (9-for-19) and drove in seven runs as the Aggies defeated Portland twice and downed preseason No. 18 pick Kansas State.

Lynch unloaded home runs in each of the first three games of the tournament, including a solo shot in the opener against host Saint Mary’s.  In an 8-7 win over the Pilots on Friday, he plated the game-winner with a first-inning RBI single and later added a two-run home run in the third.

He blasted two more home runs as the Aggies toppled Kansas State, 10-5, on Saturday, finishing the day 2-for-5 with two RBI.  In the tourney finale, he recorded his fourth straight multi-hit game, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI in an 11-2 win over Portland.

For the week, Lynch scored six times and posted a slugging percentage of 1.105.
