After downing Michigan 9-5 on Sunday in Palo Alto at the Stanford Invitational, No. 15 UC Davis will takw on No. 12 Long Beach State in La Jolla, Saturday.

BIG WEST AT A GLANCE

FOURTH AND GOAL
After going 2-2 in its second weekend of play, UC Irvine brought home fourth place in the Stanford Invite in its first appearance at the tournament.  The Anteaters notched two key victories over fellow conference members No. 6 Hawai‘i and No. 18 UC Davis.  UCI then dropped the semisfinal match to No. 2 Stanford and the third place matchup to No. 4 California.  The Cardinal brought home the tournament title for a second consecutive year.

HAWAI‘I HANDLES BUSINESS

In its first weekend of the 2014 season, Hawai‘i opened at 4-2, identical to its start a year prior.  This is the fourth consecutive year that the Rainbow Wahine have finished 2-2 at the Stanford Invite while bringing home a fifth place decision after a narrow 12-11 victory versus No. 14 San Jose State, Sunday.

DAVIS DIGS IN

After defeating No. 16 Michigan 9-5 in Palo Alto Sunday, the Aggies jumped three ranks in the national poll, now owning the No. 15 slot.
