
Senior Molly Schlemer (Santa Maria, Calif./Righetti HS) averaged 28.5 points and shot 67.5 percent from the floor to garner Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors, helping Cal Poly stay atop the conference standings with two key road wins.
The 6-5 post player notched 26 points, nine rebounds and three assists in Cal Poly’s 81-72 victory against UC Davis on Thursday. She made 12 of 16 shots from the field, and added a steal and a block.
In Saturday’s 84-79 triumph at UC Irvine, Schlemer erupted for a game-high 31 points on 15 of 24 shooting, and chipped in seven rebounds.
For the week, Schlemer made 27 of her 40 field goal attempts.
Schlemer posted her 10th game with 20 or more points and surpassed the 30-point plateau for the second time this season. She leads the Big West in scoring (18.6 ppg) and field goal percentage (.575) while ranking second in rebounding (10.3 rpg).
