Sharpe Helps Matadors Sweep Central Coast Foes

Cal State Northridge junior Janae Sharpe notched Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors after helping the program achieve its first-ever weekend sweep of Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara.

The 5-7 guard averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists to go along with 52.2 (12 of 23) percent shooting in the two wins.

Sharpe posted 17 points, three rebounds and five assists in an 81-76 triumph against the Mustangs.  In a 64-46 victory at UCSB, Sharpe tallied 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists.  She made seven of 10 floor shots, including two of three from three-point range.  Sharpe’s performance helped CSUN snap a 14-game losing streak to the Gauchos for the program’s second win against UCSB since 1984.

Sharpe also committed just one foul in 70 minutes of action.

She is averaging 10.3 points, 4.4 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game on the year.
