Cal Poly senior Molly Schlemer (Santa Maria, Calif./Righetti HS) garnered Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors as a career-high scoring performance nearly helped the Mustangs pull off a road upset of UCLA.

The 6-5 center dominated the Bruins to the tune of a career-best 29 points and 16 rebounds in a 96-89 loss on Saturday.  Schlemer made 14 of 20 floor shots.  Her 16 boards were one short of her top career mark, while seven of those caroms came on the offensive end.

In collecting her sixth double-double of the season, Schlemer helped the Mustangs stay within striking distance the entire game, and had her team trailing by just three points with 30 seconds left to play.

Others nominated: Chante Miles (Cal State Fullerton); Cinnamon Lister (Cal State Northridge); Raven Benton (Long Beach State); Sydnee Fipps (UC Davis)
