UC Davis junior Sydnee Fipps (Mariposa, Calif./Yosemite HS) secured Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors after posting consecutive 20-point outings in a pair of Aggie victories.
Fipps powered the Aggies to their first back-to-back wins of the year, and for the first time since winning three straight in late January of last season. The 5-10 forward averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in five-point victories over Santa Clara (75-70) and Houston Baptist (63-58 in OT).
Against the Broncos, Fipps collected a game-high 22 points with 16 of those coming in the second half. She made seven of her 13 field goal attempts and sank all but one of her nine free throw tries. She added four rebounds and four assists.
Fipps recorded her third consecutive 20-point game, finishing with a game-high 23 points in the win over the Huskies. She became the first Aggie to reel off three straight 20-point efforts since Jessica Campbell in 2007. In addition to making all five of her free throws, Fipps added five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block to her stat line.
She is averaging 22.7 ppt over her last there contests since being held to single digits at Hofstra on Dec. 7. Fipps needs just 143 more points to become the 16th UC Davis player to reach 1,000 points for her career.
