UC Davis senior Josh Ritchart (Auburn, Calif./Forest Lake Christian HS) secured Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades after helping the Aggies to a pair of wins at the Portland State Tournament, which included a career-high in points.
The 6-9 forward exploded for a career-high 35 points in a tournament-opening 80-75 victory over SIUE. Ritchart made 12 of 14 floor shots, including all three of his three-point attempts, and added 13 rebounds to cement his first double-double of the season.
In a 64-61 overtime victory against Loyola-Chicago, Ritchart just missed a second consecutive double-double as he notched nine points and nine rebounds. He closed out the tournament with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go along with seven rebounds in a 79-63 loss to the host Vikings.
For the week, Ritchart averaged 20.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game as the Aggies improved to 3-3 on the season. He shot 67.6 (23 of 34) percent from the field and 44.4 (4 of 9) percent from three-point range.
