Christian Standhardinger (Munich, Germany/Nebraska) helped Hawai‘i to a pair of double-digit victories over Tennessee State and Western Michigan, earning the senior the Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award.
Standhardinger averaged 18.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 46.2 percent (12-of 26) from the field. In just 21 minutes of action, he recorded the 10th double-double of his career with 20 points and 12 rebounds in the 85-55 win over Tennessee State. It was the largest margin of victory ever in a season-opener against a Division I opponent for the Rainbow Warriors.
The 6-8 forward collected a team-high 17 points the next night as UH downed Western Michigan, 78-68. In addition to posting four rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal, Standhardinger scored 12 of his points in the first half to help UH build a 39-36 halftime lead.
This is Standhardinger’s third career Big West Player of the Week honor.
