Cal State Northridge junior Casey Hinger (Fullerton, Calif./Valencia HS) earned Big West Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honors as she established career-best efforts in a conference road sweep of UC Irvine and Long Beach State.
The 6-2 middle blocker played a pivotal role in helping No. 23 CSUN to its fifth and sixth straight victories, hitting .312 (35-11-77) for the week with averages of 3.89 kills, 2.78 digs and 0.89 blocks per set.
Against the Anteaters, Hinger notched 13 kills and a career-high 13 digs to go along with a service ace and three blocks in the 32-30, 17-25, 25-20, 25-17 triumph.
Hinger exploded for a career-high 22 kills and 12 digs against the 49ers, marking the first time in her career that she posted consecutive double-doubles. She also had a career-high 49 attacks in the match and hit .347 as the Matadors clawed back from a 2 sets to 1 deficit to win 25-23, 15-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-12. Hinger added five stuffs to her stat line as the Matadors knocked off the 49ers for the fourth straight time.
