Senior Emily Hartong (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) sparked Hawai‘i to road wins over Long Beach State and UC Irvine, leading the team in kills, digs and hitting percentage to claim the Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honor, the seventh of her career.
Hartong posted back-to-back double-doubles as the Rainbow Wahine swept the 49ers and won a four-setter against the Anteaters, extending UH's winning streak against Big West opponents to 22 straight.
She delivered 14 kills and 11 digs while hitting .414 (14-2-29) against LBSU in front of a FOX Sports West audience.
Hartong then produced her fifth match with 20 or more kills, settling for a match-high 25 versus UCI. She added 11 digs to secure her eighth double-double of the season. Hartong swung at an impressive .488 (25-4-43) clip and also stuffed UCI at the net with a team-high five blocks.
UH moved up one spot to No. 5 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll and is 15-1 overall, including a 4-0 mark in Big West play.
For the week, she averaged 5.57 kills, 3.14 digs and 0.86 blocks per set, and hit .458 (39-6-72).
Hartong leads the Big West in total kills (259) and kills per set (4.62), while ranking No. 8 in hitting percentage (.308).
