The Division I Baseball Committee announced the pairings for the NCAA Super Regional and No. 5 national seed Cal State Fullerton (51-8) is slated to host UCLA (42-17) in a rematch of the 2010 NCAA Super Regional. 

The best-of-three Fullerton Super Regional is scheduled for Friday, June 7-Sunday, June 9 with game times of 4:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. 
All three Fullerton Super Regional games will be broadcasted live on ESPN2.

 In 2010, the Bruins defetated Cal State Fullerton 2-1 in the Los Angeles Super Regional to advance to the College World Series. 

The two teams met twice for midweek contests during the 2013 regular season with the Titans clinching both victories by scores of 9-6 and 5-2.

Cal State Fullerton, just two wins away from its 17th  trip to the College World Series, has hosted eight super regionals for a 13-5 (.722) record over the span to advance to the Omaha six times.   The last time the Titans did not advance from a super regional held at Goodwin Field was back in 2008 when Stanford defeated Cal State Fullerton 2-0.

The Titans advanced to the super regional after defeating Columbia and Arizona State twice at Goodwin Field while the Bruins knocked off San Diego State, Cal Poly and San Diego at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The determination of the Men’s College World Series order of first-round games both Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16, will be announced Monday, June 10. The ESPN family of networks and www.NCAA.com/cws will release the CWS game dates and times as soon as they are available. The 67th College World Series begins play Saturday, June 15, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.

Fullerton Super Regional Notes

• The 2013 season marks the 35th year the Titans have competed in the NCAA Regionals - 27th as a Big West member.  It is also the 22nd consecutive year Cal State Fullerton, who earned the No. 5 national seed in this year’s event,  has received a postseason berth, marking the third-longest active consecutive streak in the nation behind Miami (41 years) and Florida State (36 years).

• The Titans (51-8), who won their 27th overall conference championship with a 23-4 mark, won their respective NCAA Regional that featured No. 2 Arizona State, No. 3 New Mexico and No. 4 Columbia.  Cal State Fullerton swept the regional, downing Columbia and Arizona State twice. Making the all-regional team from CSF were as follows:

• The Titans are now 94-39 (.707) all-time in the NCAA Regionals and 35-9 (.795) when hosting the regional.

• Cal State Fullerton has hosted eight super regionals for a 13-5 (.722) record over the span and advanced to the CWS six times.   The last time the Titans did not advance from a super regional held at Goodwin Field was back in 2008 when Stanford defeated Cal State Fullerton 2-0.

• The Titans have won four National Titles (1979, 1984, 1995, 2004).  They are tied for fifth with Miami for the most NCAA College World Series titles.

• Cal State Fullerton has had five College World Series Outstanding Players.

• Cal State Fullerton, who surpassed the 50-win threshold for the first time since 2006, did not lose a series all year, 14 total, which included eight sweeps.

• Titan pitching staff ranks third in the nation with a 2.47 ERA.  It leads the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 4.98 and walks allowed per nine innings (1.41).

• Michael Lorenzen enters the NCAA Super Regional with 19 saves on the season, ranking him second in the Big West annals.  Long Beach State’s Gabe Gonzalez owns the top spot with 20 saves (1995).  His 35 career saves move him to fourth all-time in the conference.

• Freshman pitching duo - Thomas Eshelman and Justin Garza - are rewriting the history books. Eshelman (107.2 IP) enters the super regional with a 1.59 ERA and Garza (108.0 IP) owns a 1.92 mark.  The current Big West freshman ERA record (100+ IP) is 2.40.  Both hurlers are on track to shatter that mark.  Their 12 victories ties them for third among all Big West freshmen, with Nevada’s Darell Ranser (2000) and Fresno State’s Erik Schullstrom (1988) owning the top spot with 14 wins.  Garza is one of three freshman pitchers in Big West history to hold a perfect record.  He currently owns an impressive 12-0 mark while the other two record holders posted a 5-0 mark.
