Following a sixth place finish at the NCAA Central Regional, the nationally-ranked UC Davis women's golf team is headed to the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship for the third time in its six years competing at the Division I level. This year's event takes place at the University of Georgia Golf Course on May 21-24.
Three-time Big West Women's Golfer of the Year Demi Runas paces the Aggies with a 72.4 stroke average. All-Big West First Team selections Bev Vatananugulik and Amy Simanton sit second and fourth on the team with marks of 74.2 and 74.9. Freshman Andrea Wong owns a 74.3 stroke average and freshman Betty Chen, coming off a team-best T11th place finish at the NCAA Central Regional, holds a 75.7 mark.
UC Davis, four-time defending Big West Champions, qualified for the NCAA Finals in 2008 and 2011. The Aggies finished 20th two years ago for their best showing.
Twenty-four teams and 126 individuals will compete in 72 holes of championship competition during the course of four days. In the team play, the low-four individual scores for each team will count in each day’s total score.
The Aggies tee off round one at 5:39 a.m. (Pacific) Tuesday, May 21 and are paired with Northwestern and Arizona.
